Project Explanation
Inspiration, Concept & Symbol
This project was a casual reminder for people to see the importance and the value of their emotions & feelings, especially the unspoken ones. It takes on a little twist of the story of Pandora’s Box, which is to encourage people to open up the box full of unknown.
Inspiration
A Greek Mythology- Pandora's Box
-
The story was about a mysterious box given to a girl name Pandora, which was, both created by the Greek God & Goddess for the purpose to destroy mankind. After they had sent her to mankind as a gift, they specially warned her not to open the box. But when the Gods were creating Pandora, they did specially infuse her with a lot of curiosity. Eventually, she opened the box, which release evil, chaos, and death into the world. In short, Pandora’s box was a box of misfortune.
-
In modern’s time, the term Pandora’s box often refer to something that is best to be left alone because of the potential trouble or problem that might come with it once the box is open.
Concept
A Reflection of our Modern Society
-
The concept of this project was inspired by the term Pandora’s Box as a reflection of how society views emotions. There are similarities between the story Pandora’s Box and our society's view on emotion; the Gods telling Pandora not to open the box was like a reflection of how our society taught us to not let our emotion gets in the way. This reflects how people nowadays choose to hide their true feelings because they are afraid of the trouble/ discomfort once they open up to others. Therefore, we put our emotions in a box and lock them up because we are afraid if we let our emotions get in the way, it could make the situation worst or more problematic.

Feather & Wings
-
A representation of fallen angels. Used in the concept of anger. The inspiration came from fictional novels where a beloved, kind character turns into a villain after facing some major life-changing event. Anger turns into hatred, and decides to be the villain instead of the hero. A representation of anyone could become the villain under the influence of anger. The wing not only represents fallen angles, but it is also a representation of power. As the wings can help the angel to fly, there is potential power in the emotion which can be transferred into motivation and encouragement in life.
